Race Report – World Cup Sarasota

🇬🇧 The 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Cup is about to reach its conclusion. On October 31 and November 1, the world’s best riders will gather in Sarasota, Florida, for Rounds 9 and 10, the final races of a season that has taken them through France, the Netherlands and China. The overall titles are still up for grabs in several categories, setting the stage for an exciting finale.

🇬🇧 Sarasota BMX is no ordinary track. Operating for more than 52 years, it is recognised as the oldest continuously running BMX track in the United States. For decades, it has hosted local, regional, national and international competitions. Its 8-metre start hill, technical rhythm sections and fast turns will put the riders to the test. The track previously hosted the World Cup finale in 2016. Back then, Corben Sharrah won both the race and the overall title in the men’s category, while Laura Smulders achieved the same double in the women’s category.
Ten years later, the World Cup returns to Sarasota for another season finale. And there’s an interesting twist: Laura Smulders is heading back to Florida once again leading the women’s overall standings!

Classement : on fait le point ! – World Cup standings: where things stand!

🇬🇧 In the U23 Women’s category, Freia Challis made a big impression at the two rounds held in Chongli, China, winning both races. The British rider extended her lead over her main rivals, including Australia’s Isabella Schramm and New Zealand’s Lily Greenough.
With a comfortable advantage, Challis heads into the final two rounds in a strong position to claim the title. But in BMX, two races can change everything, so she’ll need to stay consistent right to the end.

U23 Hommes : un podium 100 % français ? – U23 Men: a 100% French podium?

🇬🇧 This is one of the categories we’ll be watching particularly closely from a French perspective. Clément Rocherieux, Mathis Jacquet and Pierre Geisse impressed in Chongli, including a French 1-2-3 finish in Round 8. Geisse took the win by just one thousandth of a second ahead of Rocherieux, with Jacquet completing the podium.
The three French riders have every reason to be confident heading to Florida. The goal? Keep the momentum going and, why not, secure an all-French podium in the overall standings. We don’t mind what order they finish in — we’d happily take three French riders on the top three steps!

Élite Femmes : quatre pilotes pour un titre – Elite Women: four riders fighting for the title

Ici, chaque finale comptera.

🇬🇧 This is arguably one of the closest battles heading into the weekend. After the first eight rounds, Laura Smulders leads the overall standings, but Bethany Shriever is just eleven points behind. Molly Simpson and Zoé Claessens are also right in the mix, only a few hundred points behind the leading pair.
The Chinese rounds shook things up once again. Shriever won Round 7 in Chongli, before Smulders fought back the following day to take the Round 8 victory. The result? Four riders still in contention for the title, with two rounds left to settle the score.
Can Laura Smulders finish the season with another overall crown, ten years after her victory in Sarasota? Bethany Shriever, Molly Simpson and Zoé Claessens will certainly have something to say about that. Every final will count.

Élite Hommes : Jaymio Brink sous pression – Elite Men: Jaymio Brink under pressure

🇬🇧 In the Elite Men’s category, Jaymio Brink still leads the overall standings, but his time in China didn’t go quite as well as he would have hoped. The Dutch rider will need to defend his advantage against rivals ready to seize any opportunity.
Arthur Pilard is one to watch. The French rider won the overall title in 2025 — could he do it again and retain his crown? Loris Aeberhard is also lurking close behind, while the two American rounds could still shake up the standings.
